Château Sénéjac Haut-Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend 2009

$37.99

This is a major sleeper of the vintage and the finest Senejac I have tasted. The team from Pontet Canet, who have done such a phenomenal job at that estate, were in charge of making this Senejac, and the result, not surprisingly, is a sensational wine that consumers need to buy by the case. Dense purple, with notes of creme de cassis, incense, licorice and forest floor, this wine is delicious and full-bodied, with sweet tannins, low acidity, copious fruit and exceptional concentration. Everything is in balance, and the wine is capable of lasting 10 or more years. Robert Parker

Dense black fruit that envelopes the mouth, teeming with licorice, and forest/incense aromatics. It will be one of my great regrets if I fail to acquire more of this.

Deliciously meaty and savory. Lovely ripe black fruit. Wonderful - A proper Bordeaux.

Very tasty and typical profile of what one would expect. Plenty of years left in this one.

Lots of smoke and cedar, after the initial wave of dark fruit. We liked it best with food at this point. This will likely improve with a few more years in the cellar to let things integrate further.

If gritty and meaty defines what you are looking for in an eight year old Haut Medoc go for it. If not....cooking wine.
