Château Rayas Réservé Pignan Châteauneuf-du-Pape Grenache 2006

$145

Light red. Smells like a head shop, with captivating aromas of red berries, cherry, gingerbread, incense and dried flowers. Suave, palate-caressing raspberry and kirsch flavors gain weight and sweetness with air. Lush red and dark berry flavors cling endlessly on the long, sappy finish. Offers a compelling blend of richness and finesse. Vinous Media, Josh Raynolds

Just an amazing wine. For cdp, very light colored with a bit of bricking. Tobacco, dark fruit, earth, amazingly plush and elegant. Very distinctive and delicious.

Cigar box, intense spices, orange liquor and chocolate. In some ways a very Burgundian Grenache, but in conflicting ways it was had a little more alc than I enjoy. I think I prefer the Fonsalette blend this vintage. Still pretty damn good, though.

Pure spicy strawberry jam! Floral, mineral and elegant. The bottle was getting closer to maturity, and the tertiary flavors were evident
