Château Rayas Réservé Châteauneuf-du-Pape Grenache Blend 2006

$995

Medium red. Vibrant strawberry, raspberry, anise and floral aromas could fill a room. Juicy and sharply delineated, offering sweet red berry and cherry preserve flavors with compelling accents of licorice, sassafras, lavender and smoky minerals. Extremely elegant wine with outstanding finishing cut and persistence. Not many grand cru Burgundies could match this for finesse. Vinous Media, Josh Raynolds

There is no point drinking any other CDP. And the ‘06 is a follower to the ‘05, ‘07, ‘08 and ,09. But what a magnificent wine. Fruit has calmed down and integrates with earth. And the Rayas pepper is there. Cannot mistake this wine for anything else. Simply stunning.

Give it a hard decent and let the funk blow off. Will rose about 30ish minutes. Then enjoy your hard earned money with a beautiful Grenache. Lovely. Hard to swallow the price but the chest puffing you get to do the next day is almost worth it.

Wedged in between the monumental 2005 and 2007 this wine is more delicate but again a true Rayas. Perfect balance, strong kirsch tones and this endless perfume which comes with a sexy Rayas. Reynaud and Bonneau two opposite wines, both great, for me forget all the rest in red chateauneuf. What a joy and privilege to be allowed to drink this.

Very Burgundian and quite emotional wine! In a beautiful spot but no rush to enjoy this. Easily will make old bones.

My first Rayas and hopefully not my last. Such a delicate expression that no other CDP producer can do as well!

Hitting all kinds of spots. Yum , yum. Could use another couple of years but with 30 minutes of breath it was singing.

Tasty bottle of juice. Definitely not the 07 but tasty either way. Needed a bit of time to open up but Rayas is always a favorite.
