Château Quinault L'Enclos St. Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend 1998

$79.95

An elegant as well as powerful effort, this dense ruby/purple-colored 1998 reveals notes of plums, black raspberries, vanillin, minerals, licorice, and spice. Exceptionally rich with an outstanding texture, this medium to full-bodied wine possesses a distinctive, individualistic style, largely because of its floral, blueberry fruit flavors. Although accessible, it will age for two decades. Anticipated maturity: 2002-2020. Robert Parker

Impressive- roasted coffee, mocha, dense cherry skins, vanilla, clay and earth permeate but do not overwhelm this showy right bank 1998 - which continues to gain favor as a vintage with time - 93+ points. Our California palate audience today did prefer the napa merlot but this had its supporters for sure. France vs California by learnaboutwine.com 5.25.14 #delectable #wine

Opened with a big juicy merlot nose and took on some smoke, gravel, minerality as it aired. Big on the nose, but really kind of medium body, which was a little surprising. Finish is not so long, but really an excellent, fun wine.

Got better and better after a 2 hour decant. Plenty of life left. Loved it.

Tasty - lots of cherry and pepper with some dark chocolate. Will taste even better in another 10 years
