Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 1982

$849

One of the monumental wines of the last century is the 1982 Pichon Lalande. Since bottling, it has flirted with perfection, and was a sprinter out of the gate, which gave rise to questions about how quickly it would begin its decline. However, at age 27, it retains all its glossy, rich, flamboyant cassis fruit, chocolaty, berry jam-like notes, and plenty of earthy, foresty flavors. This is a full-bodied, extravagantly rich Pichon Lalande seemingly devoid of acidity and tannin, but the wine is incredibly well-balanced and pure. It is an amazing effort! Robert Parker

Another dazzling wine, the 1982 Pichon Lalande is utterly profound from the very first taste. In the glass, the 1982 is powerful and explosive, with seemingly endless layers of flavor that continue to unfurl over time. Vivid, intensely aromatic and seamless, the 1982 has enough pedigree and depth to drink well for at least several decades. What a wine! (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Oct 2017)

Reconditioned bottle. Super complex, almost resolved. Lacking a little fruit which I’ve experienced in past bottles, so I think this wine’s best days are behind in this format - but it’s still an excellent 1982 Bordeaux.

Elegant, perfectly structured, a fine fruit compote from the forest floor, backed with graphite at the back of the palate. Enoteca Pinchiorri was magnificent with a wonderful tour of the cellar included. I am going to ask if I can be buried in it.

Damn near perfect. Everything the 82 should be.

Holy balls! Smoky, yummy, bit of spice. Tartness, dark fruit still alive, but danky.

I have had a lot of variability with the 1982, but this is a fabulous bottle. At Naples Winter Wine Festival

Not the greatest bottle--a little lacking in fruit.
