Château Pavie Macquin Saint-Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend 2000

9.327 ratings on Delectable
$159

A wine of great density, concentration, and intensity, the opaque blue/purple 2000 Pavie Macquin needs considerable aeration, but with decanting the prodigious bouquet of graphite, camphor, blackberry, blueberry, mineral, coffee, and smoky oak finally makes an appearance. Persuasive, expansive, full-bodied, and muscular, this enormously endowed, rich wine looks set for a long life, at least three decades. A terrific effort that rivals the compelling 1998. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2025. Robert Parker

Giant aromatics of Santa Rosa plums and cigar box. Bright red fruit with a dark chocolate mid palate and lingering rounded tannins. Tonight's undisputed #wotn

Very nice. Opening beautifully. Has ample time to age or enjoy now with 20-30 minutes of decanting. Very happy with the elegance of the red fruit and subtlety of the wine.

Not showing anything on the first day. Second day there was a little fruit on the nose - still not much. Either the most closed wine I ever had, or some low level TCA that is responsible for stripping the wine of any life.
