Château Pavie Decesse Saint Emilion Red Bordeaux Blend 1999 (1500ml)

$269

This is a strikingly delineated St.-Emilion with an opaque ruby/purple color, and aromas of black currants, blackberries, and wet steel/liquified minerals. The layered, rich, intense 1999 possesses superb fruit purity and medium to full body. This is one of the most concentrated and potentially longest-lived wines of the vintage. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2025. Robert Parker

No sign of aging at the edges even after 20 years. Positively surprised considering the vintage. Seemed to have aged well compared to earlier tasting several years ago. After an hour of decanting, dark cherries, berries, plum, mint, floral early fall leaves, pencil lead. Medium body. Good balance of tannin, acidity, alcohol and fruit. Long finish. Very smooth.
