Château Palmer Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend 1982

$349

A well-crafted red with beautiful structure. Dark ruby-garnet in color, with a lot of violet and earth aromas. Full-bodied, with loads of silky tannins and a long, sweet fruit finish. Has always been outstanding... Wine Spectator

Tasted blind. Reddish tawny, almost opaque. Big shoulders in the nose. Complex. Notes of briary brush, raspberry, hickory, pepper and tobacco leaf. Mellow in the mouth, especially when compared to the big nose. Sweeter fruit finish. Took some deductive time with my guess... 82 Margaux which freaked out my friend who brought the bottle. This is in a good place, not sure if it will improve with more age. But it’s in no danger of declining anytime soon.

Not the best bottle, from a mid to low shoulder fill btl. Still showed some of the classic 82 Palmer that I’ve enjoyed many times before. Good to know that this wine is aging just like me. Smooth and clean.

If I could give this wine a higher rating I would. Lots if fruit left. Had to look again at the vintage! Not the delicate flower you would think... Dried and fresh red and black fruit with surprising freshness

Superb bottle of wine. Balanced, rich, integrated, elegant but powerful. One of the wines of the night.

A bit mulled and cooked nuance. Nice but not showing well.

Sadly, flawed with overwhelming VA. Too bad. Good thing it wasn’t needed!
