An equal-part blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2010 Alter Ego represents 50% of the crop at Palmer. It has been an interesting second wine to take note of ever since the first vintage in 1998. The 2010 displays loads of chocolaty espresso notes, with plenty of punch, glycerin and unctuosity as well as some tannin like its bigger sister, but it is clearly meant to be drinkable at a much earlier age... should last 12-15 years. There’s no question that Thomas Duroux and the staff at Palmer are producing wines of first-growth quality, and have been for nearly a decade. Robert Parker

Dense and rich with hard tannins right now. This wine wants many years of bottle age. Blind it was called new world Malbec and CDP

My favorite name for a second label. And yeah, the wine rocks, too!

Christmas dinner wine. Pretty solid after a little decant.

Fantastic with lamb trio! Deeply floral, dark brooding attack. Blue fruit mid palate appears briefly followed by rustic, tannic finish.

It was nice, but there were definitely some oxidative notes coming from all the ripe fruit and heat this wine has. I would definitely recommend drinking this wine within 8/10 years of vintage. A more contemporary style of #Margaux. One person said that tasted blind it reminded some of a Chateaneuf and I completely agree

Sweet oak, juicy plums, leather, tobacco, finely ground rock, hoisin, baking spice. Massive tannins that still need time to calm down. 50% new wood. Oak is sexy but covers up that earthy nuance I want in Bordeaux.
