Château Montrose Saint-Estèphe Red Bordeaux Blend 2001 (1500ml)

This has a very deep garnet core. The nose is very broody and introspective with tightly coiled earthy black fruits, opening to offer limestone, graphite and cooked meat. Good delineation and complexity. The palate is medium-bodied, very classic in style with dry grippy tannins and graphite infused black fruits. Firm backbone, very Pauillac in style with great definition and length on the finish... eRobertParker.com (Neal Martin)

Had all the right things going for it, soft nose and mouthfeel that lured you in. Good until mid palate where it left you hanging and faded away.

Saint-Julian over Saint-Estephe...but just barely. #delectableapp

Under looked vintage from one of my favorite houses.

More approachable than I expected, with plenty of dark fruit, anise, and a little earthiness and ample, but well-integrated tannin.
