Château Léoville Barton Saint-Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 2010 (1500ml)

$179

Believe it or not, the 1990 Leoville Barton can actually be drunk - something that cannot be said about the broodingly backward, still excruciatingly tannic 1982. The exceptionally concentrated 1990 reveals more polished, sweeter tannins along with a big, sweet kiss of black currant, forest floor, cedar, and spice box notes. While it still has some tannins to shed, this full-bodied, powerful, long wine is approachable. It should continue to evolve for another two decades. Robert Parker

A supremely balanced wine with intense tannins and a myriad of black fruit flavors. Extremely full bodied.

I don't drink French reds as often as California, but this was outstanding. Really fine flavors, more fruit than most of the French reds that I've had. Fantastic wine.

We don’t drink French wines very often. This wine surprised me as it opened up this afternoon in the decanter. Lots of cassis and spice on the nose. A little bright on first taste but suddenly it evolves into a really nice wine with tastes of blackberries, black plums, currants and cinnamon. A hint of charcoal and licorice comes thru on the finish. The tannins are subtle but still evident in this wine. I really liked it.
