Château Latour Grand Vin de Château Latour Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 2003 (1500ml)

$1995

A prodigious effort, it boasts a saturated purple color as well as a gorgeous perfume of smoke, cedar, creme de cassis, flowers, crushed rocks, and blackberries. Massive and multi-layered, with huge richness and low acidity, it is about as unctuous as a young Latour can be. It could be compared to the 1982, but it may be even more pure, at least at this early stage, than that monumental wine. The level of intensity builds prodigiously in the mouth, and the finish lasts nearly a minute. Disarmingly accessible (although analytically the tannin level is high)...it was performing impeccably when I tasted it. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2040+. Robert Parker

As close to a 10 as I’ve had. Full bodied, complex, depth, red currant, blackberry, sandlewood, cassis, hints of licorice, infinite finish

First 2003 Bordeaux I've had in a couple years. This vintage has settled down based on this bottle. The heat is gone and powerful, velvety, rich pure fruit shines.

Total rock star wine. Can’t imagine how good this is going to be in another 5yrs it’s still getting better but I’ll slurp it up right now.

Earthy nose. Nice palate of dark fruit with menthol/eucalyptus on the finish. Flavors lingered for many minutes. Wow

so sad... only goes down to 6.1... not for me. others dig it and you might too. gotta try but don't dump if not for you too. that will bring the beat more than rating at 6.1.
