Château Latour à Pomerol Pomerol Red Bordeaux Blend 2009

A beautiful wine from the Moueix stable of right bank offerings, the 2009 Latour a Pomerol displays a dense plum/ruby/purple color along with a bouquet of mocha, roasted nuts, wood smoke, truffles and sweet cherries. Full-bodied, round and generous with sweet tannin, considerable power and no hard edges, this is a surprisingly up-front, precocious effort that can be drunk now or cellared for two decades. The red cherry and lots of perfume stunned my nose. That's not it. The palate sustained the romance all the way. Exceptional long last. Such a good buy from a lucky me! Glad I still have several bottles of it. It can age for another decade at least. I will let this Pomerol wisdom accumulate.

Four hours of decanting and it was a perfect wine for a board dinner.
