Essence of blackberry and chocolate. Full-bodied and extremely velvety. Caressing and gorgeous to taste. Duhart started making excellent wines in this vintage... Wine Spectator

This has put on some nice weight since I sold these en primeur back in 97/98. I'm really impressed, fatness of viscosity, sweetness of fruits; dry, fine tannins. Very well balanced. From .375ml, remnants of full case Base of neck Excellent storage and provenance.

I was always puzzled why the short-lived Chinese Lafite fetish extended to Carruades, but not to Duhart-Milon. This was bought not long ago on the cheap and delivers a legitimately Lafite-like experience. A classic Pauillac with the usual cedary aromatics and a pitch-black fruit complexion, even a bit of nuttiness. The texture is slick and glossy and while there is still some tannin here it's mostly smoothed over. Very easy drinkability here and while it may not have the dimensions of Lafite it's got very much the same taste, and even a lot of the elegance.
