Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhône Blend 2016 (1500ml)

$199

...I was able to taste all of the components of the 2016 Chateauneuf-du-Pape and this will unquestionably be another terrific vintage from this estate. All of the samples had inky, purple colors, classic aromatics, good acidity and freshness, and balanced profiles. The Mourvedre, in particular, was beautiful. Jeb Dunnuck

This needs some serious air. Lovely aromatics and heat on the finish upon opening. After decanting for over an hour the bite faded and it came more into balance.

Super concentrated with nice lift...still mostly on fruits complexity will come .... a potentially very good wine

WOW!!! Incredible new vintage of this outstanding wine! Herbs, Leather, smoke, vanilla with a hint of barnyard on the nose. That said, lots of blue and black fruit flavors on the pallet. Full bodied and luscious. Long and lingering finish. This is a wine of the year candidate! Revisited during Christmas week 2019. Noted the blend is 30% Grenache, 30% Mourvèdre, 10% Syrah. 10% Counoise with the balance being made up of some of the other 10 permitted CDP grapes. Just brilliant! Revisited in August 2021. Improving with age! Revisited again in December 2023. Tannins are starting to mellow. Drinking beautifully!

Young, a bit tight, but still a fine drink.

This is a scattered toddler showing no signs of the adult it will become. Wait another 7-10 years.
