The second wine of the estate is no slouch. The 2016 Pagodes de Cos has some grand vin character in its cassis and graphite aromas and flavors. Showing more incense, graphite, and hints of flowers with air time, this medium to full-bodied, rounded, beautifully textured effort is well worth a case purchase. Medium palate echoes the nose adding black cherry and a hint of graphite on the medium finish. Medium plus acidity. Medium, non-assertive tannins. The second label is already hitting its stride. Ready for everything you’ll be taking the first label to in a decade or two. Drink now through opening the first bottles of the big guy!

The second label of Cos from the classic 2016 vintage does everything a second label should do. It satisfies now (with hints at potential of its own) and portends what you will get from this vintage of the first label. Filet mignon with Bordelaise sauce is a natural pair, but any beef-centered meal will fare well. Drink now through 2026… maybe even 2031.

Nice bottle of second wine from Cos d’Estornel from a great vintage - 2016. Tight and super cherry at the open but a quick decant for 15 minutes and you began to get the cedar and more fruits.

Beautiful 2nd from the Cos folks. Lots of cherry up front on the nose. Then honey, ripe fig, and oak coming through too. Bright fruit on the palate with great acidity still hanging on. This is still fairly young and can only get better with age. 13%
