Château Clos L'Eglise Pomerol Red Bordeaux Blend 2009

$195

...2009 Clos l'Eglise may turn out to be superior to the aforementioned vintages. An extraordinary wine of compelling intensity, opulence, and breadth of flavor, it possesses a dark purple color as well as copious aromas of sweet mocha, coffee-infused blackberry and black cherry fruit, and no hint of oak. Fleshy and extravagantly rich with terrific purity and precision, it is a very full-bodied, powerful Pomerol that should drink well for 25+ years... Robert Parker

I have a history with this wine as it was an early love for me circa 1999 off a wine list at Aureole (the original Aureole). In haven’t had it in almost as many years and so a I grabbed a few bottles of 09. I don’t drink a lot of Bordeaux anymore but this seems to display more earth and less fruity to me than I expected. Bold alcohol content. Still showing some sharp edges. I like this wine but my 25 year old self had a very different palate.
