Cayuse Vineyards Bionic Frog Walla Walla Valley Syrah 2014

$319

The full-bodied, beautifully concentrated 2014 Syrah Bionic Frog offers an intoxicating bouquet of black olives, cold fireplace, ash, shitake mushrooms and rare meat in a seamless, layered, multi-dimensional package. Like the other 2014s, it has the fruit of the vintage, yet stays fresh, crisp and lively... Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

First time tasting this, and Mikey @Mike R was generous enough to bring a bottle for all of us to try. The name implies brash opulence, but this bottle was nothing like that; quite the opposite. Lots of white pepper on the nose and palate. Notes of fresh tobacco and a whiff of olives on the mid palate. Not sweet or tannic, just moderate in a good way. Gonna take another look on day two, but this is special juice. Love you, @Mike R.

Probably my favorite bottle so far. Great texture and balance. There is a green note on the finish but more green pepper than underripe. Almost like a dash of Cabernet. Silk, low tannin (?) not soft great acid

Crazy cool label. The wine is spectacularly complex. Dirty, meaty, herbaceous and dark fruit. A great wine to bring in the New Year

1st wine of 2021....had to pop something fun....jumped in the pond with the frog tonight!! 1.5 hour decant(little cloudy sediment). An alluring purplish magenta color. On the nose: expressive nose of dark cherry, campfire smoke, little Cayuse funk (luv it), vanilla toast, meaty, plum, floral. Taste: Wow! elegant, rich, juicy wine with mouth coating dark plum, bacon fat, soil, iron, and a smokey minerally cherry long finish. YUM, great start to the new year.
