Castello di Monsanto Riserva Chianti Classico Sangiovese Blend 2013

$19.99

Layered and pretty red with cherry and light orange undertones. Some dusty texture. Medium body, good acidity and a clean finish. A beautiful riserva with finesse and tension. Drink now. James Suckling

In 1961 Fabrizio Bianchi, a textile manufacturer from Milan, realized his dream and purchased Castello di Monsanto and, in so doing, realized a long-held dream. Bianchi undertook the complete restoration of the vineyards and winery. A top wine on 2016 lists, Ruby with berry fruit and floral spice scents. On the palate cherry with notes of tobacco and cacao. Rich full tannins, well balanced on lingering finish. Perfect to drink now. Tasting Sample.

Really lovely Chanti Classico, especially for the price. Crushed gravel, roasted meat and red fruit aromas. Lovely balance of acidity and tannins on the palate. Good stuff.

The illustrious 2013 vintage. There's a lot to like here. Roasted, smokey meat quality is intact. Dusty in the nose. Gravel that's been lit on fire. Acidity fairly dramatic. I still prefer the 12 for the nuance and balance. This is still a great wine.
