Capiaux Cellars Gap's Crown Vineyard Pinot Noir 2012

$49.95

The 2012 Pinot Noir Gaps Crown is one of the darker, more virile wines in this range. Red and purple leaning fruit, smoke, game, leather and spices are some of the many notes that flesh out in Sean Capiaux's Pinot Noir Gaps Crown. The 2012 is rich and expansive to the core, but with no sense at all about heaviness. Vinous Media, Antonio Galloni

I owe my love of Sonoma Pinot to Sean Capiaux. In evaluating this bottle, if I set those sentiments aside, I’m still hit by the excellence of Gap’s Crown. This is a big wine, no doubt, but it’s grace that first comes to mind. The fruit’s ripeness is balanced with shocking depth, nose to tail. Candied red fruits, blue fruits, and smoke, oversimplify a melange of fruit and umami. ABV is the one flaw, for me. It’s hot.
