The 2012 Pinot Noir Chimera is the most subtle and layered of Sean Capiaux's three 2012 Pinots. Sweet tobacco, anise, herbs, red cherries, mint and licorice meld together as the 2012 opens up in the glass. This elegant, polished Pinot should drink well for at least another handful of years. Just what I had in mind when I said "let's open a Pinot tonight." Beautiful fruit and acidity.

Very nice Pinot but didn't think it was from Sonoma or this young.

Pretty damn good for a $30 wine. Good fruit with notes of caramel and clove, soft tannin and rebound in the mouth. Good for an everyday wine.

Very nice. A bit more depth than some Pinot noirs but still lovely and smooth.

Some serious Pinot bang for the buck. Musty and funky, but only to a point, an essence of Burgundian character. Maritime minerality, clove tobacco, and cherry. Concur with most of Parker's note, but disagree with his "monolithic" comment and his score (87). Galloni got it right at 93.

Fruit forward Pinot with Bing cherry and pomegranate along with some baking spices. A splash of oak, really easy drinking food friendly Pinot.

Had after a Kosta Browne; what a tough act to follow. A solid effort here, but 1/20th the finish of the Kosta.

For the money, this is the best pinot I have drunk in the last 12 months. Lovely nose of syrup and cinnamon. Textured on the palette with tannins that are not quite integrated. This is fruit-forward which should improve with short-term cellaring :0)
