Calera Wine Company de Villiers Vineyard Pinot Noir 2016

$58.99

One of the more expressive wines in the range, the 2016 Pinot Noir de Villiers Vineyard is soft, open knit and gracious, with an attractive combination of dark red cherry/plum fruit and the more floral/savory notes that develop from the 50% whole clusters. Lavender, mint, pine and sweet spice add layers of dimension to this supple, inviting Pinot from Calera. There is so much to like here. Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media

Nose with some dark fruit and obvious undigested oak with vanilla, caramel and a touch of smoke feel to it. Palate is medium bodied, good texture of tannins and it has a nice dark fruit taste. Needs time to digest that oak and get some more finesse to it. 87-88 Nez avec du fruit noir et surtout du bois, vanille, caramel entre autres et un côté fumé agaçant pour moi de certains Pinots Californiens. La bouche est pas mal, assez dense et concentrée mais sans trop d’excès, fruits noirs mais trop dominée par le bois en ce moment et trop jeune, a besoin de temps. 87-88
