Calera Wine Company Reed Vineyard Pinot Noir 2013

$84.99

The 2013 Pinot Noir Reed Vineyard is one of the most unique wines in this range. Its powerful, incisive, savory personality is quite distinctive, to say the least. Intense chalk notes meld into blood orange, mint, cranberry and white pepper...There is no shortage of intrigue, that is for sure. Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media

Fantastic. Such a wonderful expression of what California Pinot noir can be. Elegance and power, very balanced.

Held a taste-off between this wine and the Calera 2013 Ryan vineyard and this one took the prize. Of course both are fantastic, maybe it’s because the Reed vineyard is 45 yrs old vs 20 yrs for Ryan, fun to make the comparison on the same vintage, grape and winemaker.

Fruity with black currant flavor. Soft tanning. Deep. We should have enjoyed its change over time. @3200, Daton - Xmison, 180317-180324

My reward after taking the kids to HK Disneyland. For this I'd take them everyday. Much better than the 2012 Ryan which I found extracted. Burgundian Pinot, and the benefits of limestone come thru. Better on the second night. I would say hold 5 years. Cheers.

I believe they started trucking water to the vineyard in 2013, lighter than the 2012. Still very young and needs bottle time. Classic burgy Calera nose, cranberry acid, green herb, rich red berry, hint of dill.
