Calendal (Philippe Cambie et Gilles Ferran) Plan de Dieu par Côtes du Rhône Villages Red Rhône Blend 2015

$23.95

Always a value and well-known Rhone oenologist Philippe Cambie’s own label, the 2015 Côtes du Rhone Villages Plan de Dieu Calendal is a blockbuster blend of 70% Grenache and 30% Mourvèdre that offers full-bodied, rich, even decadent notes of cassis, crushed flowers, licorice and hints of vanilla bean. It has a killer mid-palate, sweet tannin and a big finish, all of which make it just about impossible to resist. Still, it should keep nicely for at least 5-7 years. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

This is a blend of 70-30 Grenache and Mourvèdre. Red fruits, some cassis and pepper on the nose. On the palette very fruity with soft sweet tannins and quite a dash of white pepper in the medium-long aftertaste. This is just a beautiful Cote du Rhône that screams for BBQ. This is drinking already quite nice but I am pretty sure it will age well too over the coming 5 years, quite possibly longer.
