Blankiet Estate Paradise Hills Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

$229

...nother prodigious effort from Blankiet. Inky purple, with notes of lead pencil shavings, white chocolate, espresso bean, blackberry and cassis, the wine hits the palate with a crescendo of blue and black fruits, a touch of toast, licorice and foresty notes. Stunningly rich, full-bodied and impressive, this wine will age for at least 30 more years. Robert Parker

A few wines from last week’s 4th Friday event! Fantastic! I think this is getting close to hitting a prime window (for those who enjoy a balance of fruit and secondary notes). Freshly squeezed blackberries, black currant, mulberries, and a touch of herbs de Provence upfront on a decidedly juicy profile. Dark cocoa, sweet tobacco and baked mixed berry pie notes.

Beautiful, stylish, very well made. Not a style I usually go for, but this was aligned just right. Sexy, rich, concentrated and filled with defined layers that melded very well. Such a strong vintage here.

Sexy nose and elegant palate. Dark cherries, cherries, raspberries, strawberries, black berries, cranberry, sweet spice, fine grainy volcanic minerals, medium tannins, red roses, understated and soft baking spices, sweet spice, perfect acid, balance, tension, length and a beautiful long dry finish.

Dark and deep purple color which is reflected in the nose and palate. Layers of crushed blueberries, Vassos. Notes of tobacco and some pencil shavings which give it another dimension. Tannins present but starting to round out a bit.

First off, delectable needs to update this location. La Cucina moved in after Roberta's closed last year, and is one of my favorite restaurants. Love this wine! Doesn't drink nearly as big as it's abv. Dark, meaty, spicy fruit, with gravelly tannins. Definitely new world, but right in the pocket as far as balance. Not a bad bottle to start off with this evening.

Wow. Subtle and big all at the same time. Dark, velvety but not overpowering.

Didn't show well this evening. Alcohol was pronounce, good fruit and signature Denis barrel selection. I'm sure it will come around, but give it some time too young.
