Bevan Cellars Ontogeny Oakville Red Bordeaux Blend 2014

9.49 ratings on Delectable
$115

There are 700 cases of the 2014 Ontogeny Proprietary Red, a blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Petit Verdot and 10% Cabernet Franc. Totally dry, even though there is a wonderful sucrosity to the fruit. The wine has stunning blackberry and cassis notes, spring flowers, supple tannins and a long, multidimensional mouthfeel. It is a sexy beast for sure and best drunk over the next 15 or so years. Robert Parker

I am in love with this wine! Not sure who started the Bevan chants on here, but it made me try one out for myself. This is the 2014 and even though it is quite young the flavors in this wine shine through pretty quickly. I'm tasting blueberry and cassis, with a wonderfully sweet midpalate of cherry and fig with a hint of green tobacco herbalness at the end. Big thank you to the Bevan fans, I'm on board now. Can't wait to try the Cab!

Drinking nicely now, but definitely could benefit from some time or a couple hour decant.

First bottle of this tonight was corked, but this second bottle is singing. Like a Labrador retriever, this wine is just happy and exuberant and makes you smile.
