Deep garnet-black colour. An incredible array of aromas on the nose: blackberry, black cherry, tobacco, espresso, leather, black olive and loam. The palate is absolutely seamless from first impression to finish, effortlessly building layers of complexity in the mouth and leading to a very long, earth and spice finish. I can't see how this could possibly be improvement so have no alternative but concede perfection. Drink now to 2045+. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Will it ever mature into true greatness and validate the 100 RMP? Having had it several times over the past decade I’m not so sure. Still a fantastic wine this needs at least 12+ hours in the decanter to strut its stuff.

This is one for the ages. Smoked oak, cassis, and super fine seamless tannins.

Not usually a huge Bordeaux fan but this was just exquisite. Everything in perfect harmony. Delicious...

Showing a lot of vegetative and astringency out of the gates.

Really love this vintage, never gets to much play as everything is always overshadowed by the 82's, structural, not as much luscious fruit as '85, but quite well balanced.

1986 Mouton beautiful aged Bordeaux in prime shape but tannins still dense so maybe has a way to go? Beautiful aromatics with still some fruit and cedar
