Voerzio's 2004 Barolo Rocche dell'Annunziata / Torriglione is a stunning effort. It bursts from the glass with soaring aromatics that lead to a beautifully articulated core of red fruit, sweet spices and mint that is buttressed by finessed, silky tannins that caress the palate. Mix of medium garnet and brick red. Lovely and intense nose with layers of spices, earthiness, cherries, dusty and a light touch of sweet spices. Heavy tannins (7/10) and medium plus to full bodied. Long and lingering finish with layers of roses, more floral characteristics, earthiness and lots of cherries. Drink till 2028. Out of a double magnum.

Had opened for 12 hours using Audouze method. Softened it considerably and yet could have used much more time. Quite large, a heavy use of oak...a lot going on but not typical of barolo. Next bottle in 2019.
