Aubert Carneros Chardonnay 2014

$99

Another dense and layered Hudson chardonnay with plenty of cream and apple character. It's soft and fresh. Almost thick. Maintains a freshness and energy in the big flavor profile. Drink or hold. James Suckling

In isolation, this is a good chard. Displays bright notes of honey and citrus fruits on the nose. The palate is well behaved with honeydew melon and pineapple. Quite spicy on the mid-palate with hints of nutmeg and other warm spices. However, in comparison to the single vineyard designations, it lacks authority and presence. Still a very good chard. Buying it from the winery appears to be the cheapest option at $65 per.

First quaff of the week, and it was a big disappointment - akin to stepping on a trap door... While the fruits are evident, on the nose and palate, the tell-tale signs of Brett are there - I’m pissed

Earthy, smoky on the nose with mango and pineapple to the palate. No trace of oak, a signature characteristic of Aubert Chardonnays. This is amazing as the wine spends a few month in French oak barrels. Before bottling....
