Amazing! I always preferred the ‘06 to the ‘07.

From a Ridge mini vertical at a friend’s house. 08, 07, 06. This 06 is by far the most evolved. Nose is sweet with ripe, almost prune-tinged fruit. I hesitate to say prune because it has a bad connotation but this is really good. And at its peak. Lots of sweet, old library notes. Still a lot of tannin, but the flavors are revolved so don’t wait for more tannin to drop. A real pleasure-giver.

A blend of 68% Cab Sauv, 20% Merlot, 10% Petit Verdot and 2% Cab Franc, dark Ruby with aromas of ripe dark red fruits, cigar-box spice, floral and cedar notes. On the palate flavors of blackberry and black cherry with notes of licorice, pepper, vanilla and toasty spice. Fine tannins, integrating well with oak, good overall balance, long finish ending with fruit, floral and sweet oak. Great now, still has long aging potential left!

Amazing. 07 got all the press as a vintage but for me 06’s are where it’s at. So much more going on underneath the surface, where the 07’s are very showy these are a complex beast. Dense fruit, firm tannins, the oak is fully integrated but provides a solid frame. Wine is incredible and has 20 years on the upswing. Ridge is currently selling these, not cheap but maybe the best wine in America and one of the best in the world

Velvety smooth. Can taste the 20% Merlot in terms of smoothness. Ripe black fruit but not over the top.

Minty, but packed with dark fruit; nice firm tannins and sharp acid, but balanced with luscious creaminess...this wine always strikes awe with me at how it can be so many different wines at once, yet so harmonious and complete at the same time.
