It’s not often that I get to try older vintages. This Georges de Latour 2008 is wonderful. Fully integrated, subtle fruit. Elegant.

Tried as Side by Side 2008 vs 1988.. It's amazing how well the 88 held! Sure it's peaked but look at bottle age 27 years, now the 2008 not a strong year but still has the right fleshy tannin structure with good fruit. It shows how the wine team at BV does in tough years. CB 90+

Still needs a serious swirl in the decanter for full enjoyment. Watch out for the fruit flies! These nefarious buggers are officially in abundance now that the grapes are harvested and fermenting (Oct 2014).

Deep ruby coloration. On the nose, raspberry, currant, vanilla, coffee bean, spice and cedar wood. On the palate, dark cherry, currants, plum, raspberry, anise, vanilla, chocolate and coffee. Long finish of vanilla and berry. Complex and elegant. Rich and velvety texture and mouthfeel.

Didn’t love it. Tastes like squid ink but missing the semolina and richness to balance it out. You can tell there was a lot of good stuff in this bottle. Maybe tainted.

Georges de LaTour never disappoints. I think the 2009 is better. This one is on the sweet side. Heavy body, slightly floral bouquet, strong tobacco notes.

Complete 180 from the #silveroak. Heavy cherry nose and black fruits. Serious tannins- big and bold. A little astringent for me
