Saturated violet. A highly perfumed bouquet evokes black and blue fruit preserves, pipe tobacco and pungent flowers, along with oak spice and vanilla flourishes. Sappy and expansive on the palate, offering deeply concentrated, smoke-tinged cassis, cherry preserve, licorice rose pastille and mocha flavors braced by a spine of juicy acidity. What a wine, it make your heart rate increase. Compared to mountain cabs of the Napa Valley, this is less robust and more refined. Loaded with layers. Dark cherries, raspberries, marzipan, ginger, coffee bean, herbs, rooibos, rocks, sweet tobacco leaf, preserves and a lot more. The wine is concentrated, long, deep, and fresh, with silky tannins and a long, long finish. It has that ultra- premium feel to it that is very appealing. The team at Daou has accomplished something spectacular with Patrimony.
