#AgedWineTuesday Dark ruby in color with a reddish rim. Nice nose of black currants, blackberries, black plums, cedar, licorice, chocolates, vanilla, earth, light vinaigrette, tobacco leaf, herbs, eucalyptus and peppercorn. Full bodied and elegant with medium acidity and long legs. Dry on the palate with blackberries, black currants, plums, cooked cherries, cedar, vanilla, espresso, tobacco leaf, earth, herbs, eucalyptus, spices, peppercorn and mildew. Long finish with fine grained tannins and cherries. This is a gorgeous Cabernet Sauvignon based Bordeaux blend from Napa Valley. Showing great complexity with a soft mouthfeel. Good right out of the bottle, and better after 30 minutes of airtime. This 13 year old will continue to age nicely in the next 10 years. Nicely balanced, rich and extracted. Elegant and fruit forward. Wine Spectator 92 points. A good quality wine that will pair nicely with BBQ Meats. A blend of 81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Cabernet Franc, 6% Petit Verdot, 3% Merlot and 1% Malbec. 14.5% alcohol by volume. 94 points. $550.

Just opened this ‘09 I had in my cellar. Blend of 81% Cab Sauv, 9% Cab Franc, 6% Petit Verdot, 3% Merlot & 1% Malbec, deep Ruby with aromas of ripe berry fruits, tobacco, herbs and licorice. On the palate black cherry, raspberry and blackberry flavors with espresso, mocha, oak and earthy notes. Well balanced, great mouthfeel, medium acidity, fine ripe silky tannins, long finish ending with fruit, cedar and toasty spice! Very Nice! Will age well for another decade!

My youngest son's 21st birthday was last night and this was his selection - not a fan from my past experience but this is pretty good - I bought at an auction awhile back and had forgotten I even had it but he went right to it - haha - so for a birthday wine it is fantastic Love you son and he and I are smiling together

Bright, dark red with ruby highlights. Very dark aromas of black cherry, cassis, blueberry and licorice. Then rather plush, sweet and full for Opus One, conveying a chocolatey ripeness to its dark berry flavors. Finishes with smooth tannins that build without going dry. This wine was broad and smooth from the outset. Today it's a generous mouthful but a bit clunky compared to some more recent vintages. This was reportedly the first vintage to include a significant percentage of Petit Verdot, and that may explain the wine's emphasis on black and blue fruits. (14.5% alcohol) (Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, July 2019)
