The NV Bollinger Rose Champagne is comprised of 62% Pinot Noir, 24% Chardonnay with 14% Pinot Meunier, which was almost entirely sourced from a combination of premier and grand cru vineyards. Right away the mouthfeel really entices, as this shows wonderful verge and tension once on the attack. Layers of sour red fruits parade with shades of kumquat zest, wild mushroom and peat moss tones on the palate. The length here is excellent as this great new NV Rose will drink nicely over the next decade. Drink 2020-2028- 91

A few wines from last week’s 4th Friday event! I was craving some bubbles, so I opened this. For Bollinger, I expected this to be a touch more rich and powerful. What I got was a fairly elegant and finesse driven rosé champagne. Very red berry fruit driven upfront with some strawberry cream, toasted biscuit, and sea salted rhubarb fruit. So energetic on the palate but a fine balance between blanc de noir style vs rosé. Gummy red fruits with some strawberry shortbread and some sweetness toward the finish. I think these are likely better closer to release (as opposed to their special Cuvee sibling, which can be marvelous with a touch of age).

Beautifully made and way too easy to drink, with a strawberry citrus focus. On the round, soft side of bubbly.
