The 2009 Climens is much more vibrant on the nose than the 2010 with lovely dried honey, quince, saffron and light chamomile aromas. It blossoms in the glass and gains intensity with each swirl. The palate is very well balanced with a touch of marmalade on the entry, quite tensile from start to finish with a rather long, viscous finish. This is just beginning to motor. Tasted at the Climens vertical at the château in April 2022. (Neal Martin, Vinous, August 2022)

100% Semillon, aged for 22 months in French oak. Deep gold with pronounced aromas of ripe fruits, honey, currants and floral notes on a rich sweet nose. On the palate flavors of pure honey, apricot, baked apple, raisins and sweet vanilla. Rich full-bodied, syrup like, Botrytis at its best. Long finish, vivid acidity, luscious, great to drink now, but will age. Tasting Sample.

Very enjoyable Wednesday Wine Committee lunch today with @Weston Eidson & @Colby Siratt hosting. Same format as always...1 sparkler, 3 whites, 4 reds and 1 dessert wine all tasted blind. Always such a big fan of these. It’s light and nimble while remaining viscous and powerful. Honeyed orange blossom, roasted and caramelized cashews and lemon oil. Acidity down the middle of the palate accompanies honeysuckle and graham cracker. I called this mid-‘00s Sauternes.
