Dusky Goose Rambouillet Vineyard Pinot Noir 2011

9.13 ratings on Delectable
$95

Dusky Goose is a full-throttled pinot noir, with excellent ripeness, plenty of extract, and a generous helping of the finest French Oak. There is more concentration and density on the palate that many '11s exhibit, and the fruit character is an intense Dundee Hills dark red. This is a late release from the vintage, and that is to the advantage - while the upper-tier '11s in general were exceptionally tight and focused young, bottle age has allowed them to open up and shine. This wine is quite approachable now with short decanting, and will cellar for at least the mid-term.

Plum, baking spices, clean. Bit too much oak. Needs more acidity, touch soft and flabby.

My favorite #wine in the lineup. will age for a really long time. It took a long while for it to start to open and show any sense of itself. 2018, maybe?
