Trediberri Barolo Nebbiolo 2017

$46

Pre-Arrival - Wine Arrives Early May Trediberri was started by Federico Oberto, his son Nicola, along with his friend Valdimiro Rambaldi in the hamlet of Berri in La Morra andndash; three (tre) from (di) Berri. Their Barolo Normale is mostly sourced from a plot of young vines in Berri on the western edge of La Morra with 20% of the fruit coming from Capalot in the center of the zone. The wine ferments in concrete with native yeast for 3 weeks and spends two years aging in 25 and 52 HL Botti. andnbsp; This is Barolo that is pure and bright, easy to drink with silky tannins and bright acidity, and appealing floral aromas on the nose. To find Barolo that captures so much allure at this price point is rare indeed.

The 2017 Barolo is a pretty dense wine from proprietor Nicola Oberto. I am used to seeing a bit more finesse and transparency here, but the 2017 is quite a powerhouse. Large-grained tannins add to that impression. Time in the glass brings out hints of spice and tobacco, and yet the 2017 remains a bit rough around the edges. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, October 2021)

The acidity is not high enough to lift the aromas. The fruit concentration is high but not nuanced. The texture resembles those of Cavallotto and Fenocchio.

2017. Opened up beautifully. As La Morra’s barolos are reputed, quite elegant, balanced, smooth. Not overpowering.

Obviously a bit early to pop but gave a full day decant—solid core of fruit, cherry liqueur, blackberry/dark fruit, unresolved tannin, slight heat.

Completely different from the 2016 vintage. Low complexity in both aromatic and structural domaine.
