Such a contemplative wine...2 hours in the decanter at cellar temp and this wine offers up muddle blueberry, figgy pudding and mocha. What I found so intriguing was it had a certain funky side that reminded us of a Bordeaux. It blew off and showed mineral and menthol. Super fine tannins and acid that tells me this wine will drink for the next 5-8 years however, I believe it drinks at it’s prime right now.

05' Sloan is mostly Cab with CF & Merlot & PV. Ruby red in color. Only a one hour decanting. A full-bodied still relatively young wine. The nose and palate to me are very similar. A considerable amount of black fruits, tobacco, spices. A mouth coating luscious wine...with slightly sweet- smokey tannins. It lingers on your palate for a good 30/45 seconds. Drinking perfect now & for the next 10+ years.

05' is absolutely amazing! Full-bodied & balanced beautifully .The most complex Rutherford wine I've had all year. It's got 15+ years left.

A rich, decadent full bodied bruiser. Black coffee, dark chocolate, fig, jam and not a lot of soft edges. A little heat on the finish after an hour in the decanter. Not the gorgeous, plush, otherworldly pleasure of the '07 but a solid Napa cab. Was wanting more than solid.

Sloan tasting that included the 12 and 14 Asterisk. 14 was excellent. Had the Sloan 05, 09, 11 and 15. 05 and 15 are on point with the 05 having another 10 years. 15 is very approachable now not sure it has the acid for extended cellaring.

OMG!!! Intense and structured. Fully integrated fruit blessed with Rutherford dust! Chocolate and anise on the back end. We had this in a decanter for only an hour before drinking - but it was still spectacular!!
