Produttori del Barbaresco Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2017

$47.99

The Produttori del Barbaresco has been consistently turning out first-rate, traditional Barbaresco wines since the founding of this cooperative cellar in 1958. Aldo Vacca has been the managing director here for the last 23 years and maintained the sterling reputation of one of the wine worlds greatest co-ops.andnbsp; Through the 50 growers who are members, they work with grapes from 100 HA of some of the greatest sites in the region including Asili, Rabaja, Montestefano, Ovello, and Rio Sordo. The work in the cellar has always relied on hands-off winemaking techniques and patient elevage in big botti yielding long lived Barbarescos that are essential bottles for lovers of Nebbiolo. The Barbaresco Normale will drink right away but continue to improve in the cellar for a least a decade to come.

Thought it would be fun to check in on the 2017 "Classico" while I patiently wait for my 2017 Riservas to arrive (long story). Popped and poured; enjoyed over several hours out of Burgundy glasses. In the glass, the wine is deep ruby color with a transparent core. Medium+ viscosity with no obvious staining of the tears. On the nose, ripe cherrys with tar, herbs and organic earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium++ tannins and medium+ acid. The fruit set is confirmed and despite the firm structure, comes across almost round and chewy. She thicc. Long finish. The 2017's are drinking well right now and noticeably better than my last note. Have confidence these will drink well through 2032.

I broke my promise to myself not to ever buy Produttori again, after the rude reception we received in their Barbaresco store. It is slightly better than I remember. 92+ points

The 2017 Produttori pours a deep garnet color with a translucent core. Medium intensity with notes of dark cherry, tar, roses and earth. On the palate, the fruit is generous confirming red cherry and raspberry fruit, earth and dried herbs. The finish is bone dry. Tannins are medium+ and acid is medium. On the rounder, more opulent side.

Took a little bit to open up but wow when it did, awesome. Crushed dried rose petals, iron, melted tar and dark cherries on the nose. Seamless and brilliant. Chalky minerality and fine grained tannins. The best wine you’ll find for $70 on a wine list!

Great entry level Barb from a great producer. Good have let this age but wanted something to go with a red sauce dinner.

Solid quality, I’m just not sure if it will benefit from additional cellaring

Quite medium ruby . Spiced cherry , touch of anis and floral touches . Nice freshness on the palate , floral and with red fruits , quite firm but fine tannins , balanced acidity . Good length , liquorice finish . Nicely done for now and over the next 10 years .
