Koerner Gullyview Vineyard Watervale Riesling 2019

$29.99

Koerner was founded by brothers Damon and Juno Koerner in the Clare Valley who decided to start making wine rather than simply selling the grapes off in bulk as their parents did.andnbsp; Their goal has always been to make wines that andldquo;reflect their place in the worldandrdquo; and believe the key is harvesting the fruit early and not being invasive in the winery. The Clare Valley is classically known for its Rieslings and Koerner's 2019 Riesling is outstanding. Dry and very crisp it has just a bit of texture from overnight skin contact 8 months on lees. Australian Riesling is often touted for smelling of petrol, which is absent here, instead flavors of bright citrus and tart white peach dance over pleasant green herbs. This is a mouthwatering Riesling that would be well suited to chicken or fish.

Apricot and citrus on the nose. Slightly sweet but well balanced with acidity. Reminded me of a not quite ripe apricot, just with lots more complexity! Lovely.

Green apple, lemon, grass. Not too sweet. We liked it.

Actually the 19. Smells like honeydew and honeysuckle, and like an Arnold Palmer a little bit. Has a creamy middle, beautifully delineated structure and a surprising amount of heft. But not negative, obese heft, like a Winston Churchill heft
