Jean Foillard Beaujolais Villages Gamay 2019
Jean Foillard is one of the original members of the andldquo;Gang of Four,andrdquo; pioneering winemakers who turned away from industrial production in favor of the traditional approach to Beaujolais production we love. This wine comes from old vines planted in four plots around the region that are farmed organically. It's fermented slowly with native yeast in cement andamp; allowed to rest in cellar for 6-8 months, before being bottled with low doses of sulfur. It doesn't have the staying power of the cru bottlings but retains all the freshness and fun one would expect from great bottle of Beaujolais.

Short decant. Disappointing/ Probably flawed bottle. On opening, some fruit but very muted, then some atypical/unpleasant nose and flavors. Quite different from other bottles of this so think this was flawed. 10/22

Medium ruby in color with pronounced nose of tart cherry and cinnamon. On the palate more tart cherry, cranberry, under ripe strawberry, raspberry, and mint. High acid, low tannins, medium alcohol, light body with a long finish.
