Domaine Gallety is a property based in the Cotes du Vivarais on the western bank of the Rhone river where the Southern Rhone meets the North. Alain Gallety, now joined by his son David-Alexandre, have been farming their land organically since the 1980s and built a state-of-the-art, gravity fed winery so their grapes are handled as little as possible before fermentation. Within this humble appellation they have been nurturing grand ambitions of creating a top tier Rhone wine that combines the power of the south to the finesses found in this cooler terroir.andnbsp; It's clear to us that Alain's ambition has paid dividends in the 2016 Cuvandeacute;e Special bottling.andnbsp; A 50/50 blend of Syrah and Grenache, it brilliantly displays earthy, berry fruit, and black pepper spice with hints of violets and garrigue. Silky and supple on the palate with bright acidity, it is perilously easy to drink.andnbsp; A spot-on pairing for grilled dishes, whether burgers or mushrooms, serve this with a slight chill for summer cookouts.andnbsp; This would also be a splended bottle to cellar in the range of 5-7 years.

Not an obvious Rhone when tasted blind: svelte medium- full body, lavender & garrique subtle, but lip smacking dark red & black fruits. Also Ribena/black currants. Acidity strikes a satisfying balance holding it all together. What an elegant wine, quite special. Paired with grapefruit slow roasted whole chicken. Not surprised to read this is served at Michelin starred restaurants. Kermit importer.

Spice aromas leading to just ripe plum and other dark and red fruits like blackberry and raspberry fruits with just the right touch of baking spices and an underlying velvety chocolaty leather touch. Nice lingering finish of this Grenache and Syrah blend.
