Château Yvonne "L'île Quatre Sous" Saumur Champigny Cabernet Franc 2019

$26.99

We love Cabernet Franc in all its iterations, so when we find a serious example without the price tag to match, we snap it up. Chateau Yvonne comprises 8ha of vineyards in Saumur Champigny that have been farmed organically for over 20 years.andnbsp; The L'andicirc;le Quarte Sous is a single vineyard planted in sandy soil, giving a softer style of wine.andnbsp; To emphasize this lighter andldquo;bistroandrdquo; style of wine, no oak is used during fermentation and aging, yielding an incredible juicy and open Cabernet Franc we just can't get enough of.

Tastes like Italian wine from France. We had it at 112 Eatery on our anniversary.

Mocha latte, dark cherry cola, cigar box, blistered shishito peppers on the nose. The palette mirrors with a touch of brisket. Tight but approachable. Decant for 30-40 minutes.

Closed down a bit at first. Opened up after about a half hour. Would have been better with food but still a very nice early drinking Cab Franc.
