100% Aleatico from Lazio (near Rome), Italy. Aleatico is traditionally vinified into dessert wine, but Andrea Occhipinti decided to make a dry red wine from vines planted on Elba Island in Lazio's Lake Bolzena. These ancient volcanic soils produce a highly aromatic and super ethereal wine that we can't seem to drink enough. Super spicy and dark fruits on the nose, and then high toned red fruits on the palate with lip-smacking acidity. Given how warm it is in this area, you'd expect a big clunker red from Aleatico, but that is not the case. This is beautiful, balanced and so easy to drink.andnbsp;

Hibiscus, floral android sweet red cherry, black pepper spice on nose and palate; super elegant, medium to light, excellent grip on the tannins, balancing acidity; cherry notes on finish

100% Aleatico planted on Elba island in Lazio Lake Bolzena. Volcanic soil. Perfumed with dried rose petals, violet, on the nose. On the palate: red cherry, ripe raspberries, somewhat savory followed through with hint of black pepper and earthy, straw undertone. Med to med plus acidity. Leave your mouth dry. Med to med plus tannin.

Eucalyptus, furniture, old interiors — but seen through modern eyes. Great Occhipinti wine! Funky! Lighter body and also cheaper than the others. Really enjoying this one.

Andrea, not Arianna. Intriguing and light and robust but a bit chalky.

Súper rose perfume smell, that’s the best part, the body is rose with some sorrel, and something thick and syrupy at the end like a super perfumed barley wine

So good and so fun. Only problem is that we drank it too fast. (At Septime cave)
