Gilles Troullier was the winemaker at Chapoutier for over ten years until his quest for the best terroir and biodynamic viticulture found him creating his own label, Domaine Troullier. Now with a lineup of sight transparent Languedoc wines which can give the best of the Northern Rhone a run for their money, Gilles is on a mission to show the prestige of these remarkable vineyards. From a hectare parcel, planted in granite soils at 1800 ft. elevation, the Syrah vines of Troullier's Boreal present a wine that provides the depths of Hermitage with the intensity of Cornas. It's a thrilling mix and highly recommended.

Off bottle. It must have been. Had high hopes, muted, one note, very simplistic. Seemed like a lot of potential there. Wild fruit, olive, potpourri, mild brett. Palate thin, almost in an under-extracted way. Would like to revisit.
