Big Basin Vineyards Old Corral Syrah 2010

"Odedi"

Deep purple in color with a strong nose. Dry on the palate and full bodied with medium plus acidity. Showing black fruits, oak, spices, light vanilla, tobacco, peppercorn, espresso, chocolates, cola, acetone, light barnyard, vegetables and herbs. Tangy and spicy. Rich and fruit forward. A little past its prime, but still very drinkable. Good by itself and better with food like a nice piece of steak. I paired it with cheeses and crackers. A blend of 86% Syrah, 13% Grenache and 1% Viognier. Aged in French oak barrels for 27 months. A small production of only 5 barrels. 88 points. $55.
