BBQ & Zin night! 1 of 5 Turley Zins tonight. The youngest of the bunch and it shows. Came across a touch hot with dark berry pie notes but lighter than expected. Probably the “least” fruit forward of them, but that’s not to say it wasn’t fruit/jam driven. Not super complex at this age, so I’d love to revisit in a few years.

A pretty color of dark ruby with a wide reddish rim. Fruity on the nose with cherries, blueberries, red currants, wood, red candy, spices, licorice and black pepper. Medium plus in body with medium plus acidity and long legs. On the palate, cherries, raspberries, strawberries, wood, earth, graphite, spices, herbs, light vegetables and light black pepper. Medium finish with fine grained tannins and tangy pomegranates. This is a nice Zinfandel from California. Not fully balanced, yet enjoyable by itself or with food. Still young and needs another few years to mature. Showing elegance with nice complexity. Not as fruity as I expected from a California Zinfandel. Very high in alcohol, but it's not noticeable at all, so watch out... This Single Vineyard Paso Robles Zinfandel needs an hour to open up properly and show some tannins. I used the VSpin for about 10 minutes. 15.7% alcohol by volume. 89 points. $60.

Seems in 2015, Paso acid beat its fruit. Still needs settling time. Might always be a middling vintage for Pesenti.

A new Zin that I liked surprisingly, great with Ribeye, more fruity, less earthly, smooth, mild tannins.

Pesenti delivers big acidity (always) and unripened qualities in its youth.

A couple hours mellowed out the raspberry/dark cherry jolleyrancher fruit but still jammy notes. Get some more white pepper now instead of pure fruit/baking spices. Tartness to it.
