Rose floral. Round red mid palate. Lingering medicinal quality with good length.

Took a while for this to open up, then it exploded out. Cassie leads to blackberry bushes leads to cracked black pepper leads to charcuterie and smokiness on the nose. The palate is all that plus vanilla smoke and tannins that attack hard and rest easy. Have with steak, a filet preferably.

Second Alban Patrina we have tried. Expectations were very high since the 08 we tried. Deep purplish ruby red. Love the nose on day one with olive tapenade, dark cherries, slightly savory with some undertones of gunpowder and graphite. Moderate tannins (7/10) and full bodied. Olive undertones and some light tomato. Black and dark fruits with a mix of cherries and plums. Light pencil shavings and cassis in the finish. Slight heat too. Long and lingering finish. Drink till 2026.

Backwards at first, but with air (& short ribs) this was fantastic. Made all the better by the new friends & family gathered around the table. Dinner w/ John & Lorraine. #alban #swc

2013 Vintage. 15.5% Alcohol. Now this is just singing! Amazing depth and resolved tannins leaving a velvet mouthfeel. More like a meal than a beverage!

Wine has aged well and will continue to do so. What a wonderful deep, dark fruit, vanilla and forest floor. Well balanced. Needs to breath for an hour.

90m of air. Impenetrably dark purple. Solids are visibly falling out. Initially this had an iron and stinky mushroom nose, likely reduction; blew off after air, revealing rich bramble qualities. Palette is massive, ripe, and heavily extracted, with balanced acidity; classic central coast / Paso. Med+ tannins. Didn’t look at the abv, but you feel it. I’ve become a cold weather Syrah guy, but this is solid for what it is.
