Opened well. Too much oak for me but more Burgundian than expected.

Lime skin, toasty brioche, complex nose. Beautifully balanced palate, textural with driving acidity and great length. One of the NZ greats of Chardonnay.

First discovered this wine at SingleThread Farms staff holiday party surrounded by Grand Cru white Burgundy. Concentrated and impressively layered showing ripe peaches, creamy vanilla bean, white flowers and hints of Gruner-like white pepper spice. Finishes with very good depth and focus. Absolute incredible value at sub $50 and a rare instance where my glass costs more than the wine....From the cellar of Blue Hill at Stone Barns.

Light gold color. Big nose dominated by camomile and butter with a little melon. Wine was actually better colder versus on the warmer side. On the palate I got a lot of sugar and hence too much sweetness for me. Very little acidity. Too sweet for me.

After two relative disappointments from 2008, one Chassagne-Montrachet and one Chablis Les Clos, this one won the game for both the New World and screwcaps. Lovely freshness, pure, slightly smokey fruit, with real precision and vibrancy. It even retained a tiny bit of CO2! Excellent, and this is Kumeo's basic Chardonnay!
