Expressive exotic nose with equal interesting notes in the mouth. Really nice.

Tasted blind, which is a good way to taste Dominique Laurent's wine: cuts out a lot of prejudice. I loved this wine when it was released and was reasonably happy with where it is now. There's still a slight 'cola' note about the oak but the volume of the perfume and sweet harmonious texture are still there in abundance. Great year for Laurent and Charmes VV is one of the best in his big stable

19. Vieilles Vignes. Perfect maturity but will hold 10 years at least. Overpowering mature pinot nose, not farmyardy. Deep ruby with some sign of age. Complete , balanced. V long.

18.5. 2002. Decanted. Nose shows age a bit, tant mieux. Big fruit, tannins gone, but enough acidity to carry it forward. Great mouthfeel and length.
